Your dog must be up to date with heartworm prevention in order to be prescribed heartworm medication. Please see your veterinarian for a heartworm test if your pet is not currently on heartworm prevention or has missed more than 2 doses.
REVOLUTION® is a heartworm preventative that kills heartworm larvae, treats flea infestations, and helps to control and treat ear mites, hookworms, and roundworms for puppies and kittens below 5lbs (2.5kg). It is meant to be applied directly to the skin, between the shoulders, once a month.
For the prevention of heartworm disease one month (30 days) after infection, for the treatment and control of fleas, ear mites, hookworms, and roundworms.
Possible Side Effects
When used as directed on the label, side effects are rare.

While gastrointestinal side effects are usually mild and not concerning, please contact your veterinarian if this happens.
Bald spot and/or irritation at application site:
The fur loss is transient and no effects on the skin (pustules, bleeding, crusts, flakiness) is expected. Please contact your veterinarian if skin lesions are seen.
Side effects that may be serious (extremely rare):
Neurological problems including sudden blindness, excessive drooling/foaming, seizures, severe weakness, clumsiness, coma, or if your dog is pressing its head against the wall. Breeds with the MDR1 gene mutation are more prone to such symptoms. If you see any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Drug & Food Interactions
REVOLUTION® has been tested to be safe in breeding/lactating/pregnant animals, puppies aged six (6) weeks and older, and kittens aged eight (8) weeks and older.
Do not start in puppies below six (6) weeks and kittens below eight (8) weeks of age.
All pets above six (6) months of age who are not on a current heartworm prevention program must be tested for existing heartworm infection before starting treatment with this medication.
Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. In case of ingestion by humans, clients should be advised to contact a physician immediately.
Topically apply the entire contents of a single dose tube directly onto the skin, between the shoulders, once a month, preferably on the same date each month. Consult your veterinarian for proper dosing instructions.
Store below 25°C (air conditioning), away from direct sunlight.
